TRUST IN GOD – 2018 MOTHER’S DAY MESSAGE

FB_IMG_1526538599828

One of the highlights of this 2018 Mother’s Day was me sharing at my local church on one of my favorite topics in the Bible ‘TRUST ‘and along the way a bit on my mom journey. I consider that an absolute privilege and honor. It was no doubt an emotional moment for me. I  am absolutely thrilled to share that with you on my blog. I hope the message blesses your heart as much as it did to me

FLASH BACK

A little bit of flashback about me. I am a born again believer from a Hindu background. Life was all good, happily married when I came to Australia. Disaster struck and my dreams shattered when my marriage of 6 years abruptly ended and I became suddenly single with my 6-month old baby. With no immediate family in Australia and being a first time mom, it was quite a challenge and probably the toughest season I had ever faced in my life. The one thing that really made a difference in my life then was my choice to TRUST GOD THROUGH IT ALL. God used this pain in my life to take me from strength to strength. God used my struggles to teach me about His love for me and how much He cares about me. This painful journey took me to a new level of trust in God, trust where is no doubt that God will provide or fear that God will leave me. I got a grasp of how much God loves me right in my darkest pit. Jesus became my confident, my shelter and my protector. I said bye bye to my ‘long -distance’ relationship with God and started a brand new ‘move-in’ relation with Him allowing Him access to every part of my life.

SCRIPTURE VERSE

One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible talks about TRUST

Trust in the Lord COMPLETELY,
and DO NOT rely on your own OPINIONS

With all your heart RELY ON HIM to guide you,
and HE WILL lead you in every decision YOU MAKE

Proverbs 3:5

1. TRUST IN GOD COMES WITH FAMILIARITY OF GOD

Trust in the Lord COMPLETELY

Proverbs 3:5a

Trust is a crucial ingredient in any relationship, to make it work. In every sphere of our relationship, there is a level of trust involved. And that level of trust determines the depth of our relationship with that person

BABY’S FIRST STEPS

I can never forget my daughter’s first steps. When she took her first steps, we were in the living room and she started walking without her walker. There was probably few steps distance between us and when she walked towards me, I noticed few things

  • With every step she took, she did not look to the left or the right, but kept her eyes focused on me
  • After few steps, she lost her balance and stumbled
  • She heard my voice ‘Hannah, come on, you can do it ‘
  • Then she looked at me, picked herself up again and completed her final steps towards me

God wants us to have that kind of childlike trust towards Him. A trust that builds with familiarity of the person you do life with. So much trust of the child, that all that mattered to her was her mom standing in front of her and cheering her on. She recognized me as I spend time with her and she is familiar with my voice. When we spend time with God and get familiarized with Him, it will be so easy to trust God for our life. I wonder if she will show the same excitement during her baby steps walking, if the person on the other end was an unfamiliar person? I highly doubt so. That’s when the fear of uncertainty and doubt kicks in

Trust and Faith go Hand in Hand,

WHEN you TRUST God, YOUR FAITH will set you into action

ABRAHAM

I love how Abraham handled his situation by TRUST in GOD. There are about 12 examples from his life in Gen 12-21 about this walk with God through his TRUST journey

Romans 4:3 puts it beautifully on what was the turning point of Abraham’s trust

What we read in Scripture is, “Abraham entered into what God was doing for him, and that was the turning point. He trusted God to set him right instead of trying to be right on his own.”

ENCOURAGEMENT FOR MOMS

Moms , we do so many things , in the home, around the home, at work and everywhere. We are no doubt overcomers and multi taskers. But sometimes stress gets to us no matter how hard we try to de-stress ourselves. It’s time we stop laying out our journey ourselves, trying to figure it all by ourselves, relying on everything except God and then asking God to bless that journey. It’s time to set the norm like Abraham, to step out in faith and trust God even for the unknown, TRUSTING GOD COMPLETELY

2.RELY ON HIM TO GUIDE YOU WITH ALL YOUR HEART

I wonder how Abraham must have felt when God told him to move out of his comfort zone . God in fact did not even tell him where he was going. Abraham left for an unknown destination trusting God for his future as Abraham relied on God with ALL is heart

Abraham obeyed without question and set on his journey. WHY ?

  • He knew God’s heart
  • He knew God has a plan for his life
  • He knew God will provide for all his needs
  • THAT helped him make the transition
  • Abraham did not base his trust on his current situation but for who God is and what He has done for him in the past

Probably its time to ask yourself, what is that one thing that God asked you to DO and you have put that on ‘ PENDING ‘ status ? I believe that is time to transition from that ‘ PENDING’ Status ‘ to ‘ WORK IN PROGRESS

3.FINALLY, GOD EXPECTS US TO TAKE ACTION

Proverbs 3:5 tells us

HE will lead you in every decision YOU MAKE

It’s one thing to trust in God and have great faith in God. It’s a totally different thing to set that faith to action in a practical way in our lives

Imagine as a good parent, you make the best healthy meal for your child, with lots and lots of veggies. You know in your heart that if they eat it, they will become strong and stay healthy. As a parent the most you can do is to cook for them. The child needs to EAT to get the nutrients into their body. YOU can’t eat that food and EXPECT your CHILD’S body to grow healthy

It’s the same with God. God has set a wonderful life ahead of us. To live the abundant life God has for us, we need to make a CHOICE to live in the ways of God. We can’t live life the way we want and blame it on God saying ‘If there is a God why is He allowing such and such thing in my life ‘? Bad choices lead to bad consequences

ABRAHAM AND HIS SON

God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, the son of the answered prayers, the son who was born to Abraham at an old age

Imagine the pressure Abraham must have gone through in faith, trust and obedience on what God had called him to do, but still all the while trusting God

Abraham did not turn around and ask God

’ Are you kidding me God ‘ or ‘ Do you even know what you are asking God ?’

Instead Abraham set on his journey to offer his son as a sacrifice the way God wanted. ABRAHAM RELIED ON GOD’S PROMISE FOR HIS SON.

‘I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him

Gen 17:19

And God’s promises are YES and AMEN, God never lies. Abraham relied on his learned experience through his walk with God. He knew that not by trusting in God, he could make a compromised decision, like he did in the past. He knew deep inside his heart God will come through still did not stop doing what God want him to do

Gen 22:5 He told his servants ‘

Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will travel a little farther. We will worship there, and then we will come right back

MOMS, motherhood is a privilege and a beautiful journey. Raising little humans is no easy task. We never have to do it alone. I know that we are concerned for our kids, about their school, about their friend’s circle, about their friends, about their choices, but we need to realise that there is only so much we could do. We need to partner with God, we need to trust God, rely on Him to lead us. We need to invite God into every sphere of our lives, to live the life He wants us to live. To lead our families from a position of love, grace and authority. When we boldly take action for His guidance offered, He will bless the journey along the way

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this gift of motherhood.Even though Mother’s day is celebrated just one day in the year, we need the same strength, same courage, same guidance, same patience and same wisdom from You to raise the little ones that you have entrusted to our care, 365 days throughout the year. We ask that you will bless us with the spirit of discernment and sword of protection around our hearts and minds so we will be able to fulfill our calling as a mother to the most beautiful children you have blessed us with

In Jesus Name

Amen

Lent – Day 11 – The CERTAIN CHRIST in an UNCERTAIN WORLD

jesussame

Human heart is so unpredictable. No wonder the Bible tells us to guard our hearts as from it flows everything in our life

Above all else, guard your heart

for everything you do flows from it

Proverbs 4:23

In an uncontrolled mind, feelings take precedence over our heart. When it comes to our spiritual walk with God, our gratitude towards God should not be based JUST on what He has or will do for us but rather on His character and what He has already done for us. God’s character or the very existence of God does not change just because you feel a certain way about God. God is God.

God is THE-GREAT-I-AM

13 Then Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the People of Israel and I tell them, ‘The God of your fathers sent me to you’; and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What do I tell them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I-AM-WHO-I-AM. Tell the People of Israel, ‘I-AM sent me to you.’”

Exodus 3:13-14

Through Jesus our lives came to existence on this earth and through our belief in Him will our lives be taken to eternity. He is the alpha and the omega

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Revelations 22:13

Jesus is our promised Messiah, our resurrected King , the sacrificed sinless lamb and the victorious son who obeyed His father to the feet of death. When Jesus died that horrific death on the Cross , He thought of you and me.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who [a]is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelations 1:8

As mere humans, we all have our own weaknesses. Sometimes, intentionally or unintentionally , we base our faith towards God based on our circumstances, our happenings in life , the situations in the world and sometimes answered / unanswered prayers. Fortunately God doesn’t not change along with our thinking or feelings. The Bible says that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. When we praise God for who He is or when we get angry at God when things are not happening the way we wanted or when we wonder where God is when there is so much injustice happening to innocent lives, GOD IS STILL THE SAME LOVING FATHER. He is STILL the same loving, caring, protecting, guiding, leading, healing and delivering Father towards all that trusts in and calls on His name.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever

Hebrews 13:8

When we learn to trust God through the lens of His beautiful character, His unconditional love and unfailing faithfulness will shine through.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love Psalm 145:8

“The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Exodus 34:6-7

My prayer for you today is from Philippians 4:6-7

6-7 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Stay Blessed in Him
